Education For All: Transform Lives in Bangladesh
In Bangladesh, where climate change and poverty create barriers to education, READ Foundation is pioneering innovative solutions to bring learning and safety to the most vulnerable children. Our two flagship projects, School on a Boat and Street Children Night Drop-in Centres, are designed to address these challenges head-on.
School on a Boat: Education For All
Imagine a classroom that floats to your doorstep, bringing hope and education to communities affected by climate change and isolated by water. Our School on a Boat project does just that. These mobile classrooms navigate the rivers of Bangladesh, reaching children affected by climate change who cannot access traditional schools. Each boat is a ship of learning, equipped with books, resources, and teachers ready to inspire. By turning boats into classrooms, we ensure that every child, regardless of where they live, has the chance to learn, dream, and succeed.
Street Children Night Drop-in Centres: A Safe Haven
For the countless children who call the streets of Bangladesh their home, life is a daily struggle for survival. Exposed to child labour and exploitation, these children are forced into work or begging, leaving no time for school. On the streets of Dhaka alone, there are an estimated 450,000 street children. Our Street Children Night Drop-in Centres offer a lifeline. These centres provide psychosocial support, a nutritious meal, and a safe place to sleep, play, and learn. More than just a shelter, they offer vocational training and a chance for a better future. Here, children find a sanctuary where they can be safe, nurtured, and given the opportunity to break free from the merciless cycle of poverty.
